We believe that all pets are precious- and none should be left behind. We take great pride in our organization that strives to serve animals and families to the best of our ability- going above and beyond at every turn.
We’re not an animal rescue, we are an animal centered organization. That means we become whatever our community needs; an all-inclusive ‘center’ that helps the community’s animals and its people.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, the Lucky Dog Foundation is a unique, private, non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of animals and enriching the lives of people. The Foundation is a dynamic, evolving institution that is an agent of change for the animal welfare world.
We don’t have a brick and mortar structure- rather we house our animals in private foster homes throughout the greater Los Angeles area. We have an extensive network of fosters whom we train and support to best take care of the animals until forever homes are found.
We primarily exist to support the shelters but our animals come from all different situations, including owner surrenders. Sometimes our job isn’t just to secure an animal and to take it under our wing, but instead help someone keep their pet, with advice and training; to advocate spay and neuter, so we can limit the number of animals that may need our help later; as well as to convey the plight of these animals in need, so the community too, might realize that their help is needed- and valuable. It doesn’t take a great amount of time or energy to support animal rescue- just motivation to do your part!
More families bring pets into their homes during the holidays than at any other time of year. What better gift can any of us give during the holiday season than to save the life of an orphan?
